Farewell Lena Rodriguez!

Lena Rodriguez was our Curatorial Intern this summer.  We asked her to share a reflection on her experience this summer and plans for the future. Read her thoughts below:

Hello and a heartfelt goodbye! From the very beginning of being awarded this internship I have felt very lucky to be able to expand my work experience at a non-profit organization. It has been so much fun and I have learned so much by being able to attend the Artist Roundtables, as well as working with artists and with other 18th Street Arts Center staff. While my internship was fully remote I really feel like I have been able to connect and learn from so many in a way that has helped make quarantine feel not so isolating.

After this internship I will be starting a Masters Program in Museology at the University of Washington, Seattle and working part-time for 18th Street’s artist in residence Yrneh Gabon. I am so excited for the future and to take what I have learned from 18th Street to one day become a curator myself. I sincerely hope I can keep in touch with the people I have met during my internship and please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you all for everything!
