Expo Line Metro Trainspotting Party

Saturday, May 21, 2016 | 12-3 pm

17th Street/SMC Expo Line Metro Station and 18th Street Arts Center

Join us at noon on Saturday, May 21st, to celebrate the grand opening of the LA Metro’s Expo Line, now extending all the way to the beach! We’ll meet up at 17th Street/SMC Station’s parking lot, joined by that station’s featured artist, Carmen Argote. The city will be celebrating from 10-4 pm, where guests will enjoy giant puppets by Michelle Berne/Celebration Arts and music by Angel Luis Figueroa’s FLACO ensemble (at 1pm and 2:15pm), co-presented by 18th Street.

Grab a site map to make the short walk over to our campus from 12-3 pm, where Otis Graduate Public Practice students present Unzipping the Code: Adventures in 90404 in our Main Gallery and the 2016 MFA Degree Exhibition in the Atrium Gallery (closing 5/21). Barcelona-based curator-in-residence Andrea Rodriguez Novoa will host Scoping Scapes, a screening of video art, in the Curator’s Lounge.
