What is Sacred | Activation Related to Re-Homing Instincts
Amanda Maciel Antunes and Galia Linn
Saturday, May 13, 20 and 27 | 12:30PM – 4:30PM

18th Street Arts Center (Airport Campus)
3026 Airport Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90405

Corporeally responding to the present time: when division and polarity are at their most extreme between the self and the other, the spiritual and the material, the sacred and the mundane, Amanda Maciel Antunes and Galia Linn conceived a metaphysical space for activation where they forge beyond these differences to create a sense of place that connects the human with the divine.

On May 13*, 20 and 27, from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Antunes activates the site-specific installation in the Propeller Gallery, catalyzing the space and aligning the body and its life cycles with the unrestrained self.

Proclaiming “what is Sacred” as a rebellious inquiry and radical assertion, the artist invokes a visual language for what is sacred that is distinctive from the dominant patriarchal traditions. The range of resources and devotional influences are reclaimed with matriarchal ancestral inheritance and adopted cultures.

*The activation on May 13 will occur as a part of Mina Mudita, a free vendor and artisan market. FREE to RSVP here.
