Katya Kan | LARP it out
Saturday November 23 | 7PM-midnight
18th Street Arts Center | 1639 18th Street
Studio 1659-A
Join us for an evening of LARP (live action role play) and be any character that you wish to manifest in life be it the protagonist from “Fleabag”, Serena from “Gossip Girl” and/or Winona Ryder from “Stranger Things” (weird choice, but why not?!). If you were to choose any scene from any sitcom and place yourself into it, what would it be and why?
You can also use this event as an opportunity to meet fellow art and film industry professionals and to buy celebrity inspired postcards by globalized artist, Katya Kan.
SCHEDULE:
6 – 7 pm: free horoscope readings in the patio
7 – 8 pm: a meditation circle to the high vibration sounds of YouTube self-help practitioner, Kenneth Soares
8 – 9 pm: experimental film screening
9 – midnight: party with complimentary drinks and more!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Katya Kan was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan of Korean and Russian descent. Having caught a glimpse of the ex-USSR, Kan has a nostalgic, conflicting perception of political and cultural systems. The image of Korea evokes for the artist a tantalizing, fragile and beautifully moving atmosphere. Devoid of a homeland, Katya focuses on concepts such as globalization, surveillance, nostalgia, utopia and eroticism. Art represents the act of seeking, assembling and immortalizing beauty.
