18th Street Arts Center is pleased to present a group exhibition of the 18th Street artist community in the North and South Galleries. The exhibition presents a group of artworks that address the human capacity to overcome hardships on both global and personal scales. The artists in this show draw from personal experiences and observations on how empathic connections are formed in order to make it through the darker moments in life.
More broadly, the exhibition asks us to consider the ways in which art empowers not only the artist, but its viewers to transform their most difficult experiences into enlightened outcomes.
Facing Darkness: Building Networks of Empathy is generously funded by the City of Santa Monica and the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture.
