Workshop: SYMBOL STORIES with Audrey Chan

Join Los Angeles based artist, Audrey Chan, as you explore the things and people in your home. Each family will choose meaningful objects from their home to inspire a symbolic story drawing.

Materials: paper, colored pencils, crayons, pens, colored paper

Audrey Chan is a Los Angeles-based artist and educator. Her research-based projects use drawing, painting, video, and public art to center stories that challenge dominant historical narratives of power, place, and identity. She received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and a BA with Honors from Swarthmore College. She was commissioned by LA Metro to create a large-scale public artwork for the future Little Tokyo/Arts District Metro Station, opening in 2022. She was a Visiting Artist Faculty in the Program in Art at California Institute of the Arts and is currently the inaugural artist-in-residence at the ACLU of Southern California.

Taller: HISTORIAS DE SÍMBOLOS con Audrey Chan

Únete con la artista Audrey Chan mientras exploras las cosas y la gente de tu casa. Cada familia elegirá objetos significativos de su hogar para inspirar un dibujo simbólico de la historia.

Materiales necesarios: papel, lápices de colores, crayones, bolígrafos, papel de colores

Audrey Chan es una artista y educadora con sede en Los Angeles. Sus proyectos basados en la investigación utilizan dibujo, pintura, video y arte público para centrar historias que desafían las narrativas históricas dominantes de poder, lugar e identidad. Recibió un MFA del California Institute of the Arts y un BA con honores de Swarthmore College. Fue comisionada por LA Metro para crear una obra de arte pública a gran escala para la futura estación de metro Little Tokyo/Arts District, que se inaugura en 2022. Fue profesora visitante en el Programa de Arte del Instituto de las Artes de California y actualmente es la artista en residencia inaugural en la ACLU del Sur de California.
