Born in 1985, Yu Liu works and lived in Taipei. She is an artist engaged in many art-related productions and social activities. She is sentimental, sensitive, intuitive and deeply personal in her work, reflecting the highly visual Millenial generation born in 80s. Liu grew up indulging in movies, and meditations on the narratives, scripts, imagery, and fictional plots have become the raw material describing her approach to the world. Through this, she has been exploring irrational, unusual, fantastic and accidental experiences in her works. Her major solo exhibition “Life Rented From STARFLY” at Eslite Gallery was nominated for the 14th Taishin Art Award. Her double solo show with Wu Sih-Chin called “Two Ends” received an honorable mention in the Taipei Arts Awards, 2012. She has participated in the Taiwan Biennial of the National Taiwan Fine Art Museum, created the exhibition “Life is a metaphor, you are the metaphor” for Artist Artfair, and “Unknown Refraction” in Artist Fair. She is also included in many overseas group shows, such as “NEW DIRECTIONS #2 TRANS-PLAX” in Tokyo and “Discomfort’s Calling” in the Czech Republic.
