Verena Schöttmer

Verena Schöttmer is a multimedia artist based in Hamburg / Germany whose practice includes installations, sculpture and painting. She mostly works with fabrics. In her work she brings together traditional craftsmanship and popular culture, weaving in social codes and quotes, scenes of human relationships and appearances of spiritual processes. She already attended 18th Street Art Center in 2019.

Schöttmer has been awarded many scholarships and stipends such as Georg Meister-mann Scholarship, Germany (2013-2015); Scholarship of Ministry of Culture, Hamburg (2014); Grant of Foundation Kunstfonds Germany (2020), the highly dotated Dorothea Erxleben Stipend (2021-2023). She exhibited nationally and internationally in places such as Kunstverein Hamburg, Germany; Griffith’s Arts Center, Canton, New York; Kunstverein the White House, Vienna and at Böhmen, Berlin. Schöttmer studied Fine Arts at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, Germany. She is a lecturer at Art University Braunschweig Germany.
