Pamela Simon-Jensen is an artist based in Santa Monica, CA whose practice includes painting, photography, film, and drawing. She currently creates human scale intimate catalytic color paintings. These expressionist gestural abstractions move rhythmically. Color, line, and texture range from delicate and soft to vigorous and exuberant. Inspiration is drawn from the grace and exaltation in dance, the drama and comedy of human emotion, and the contemplative qualities of the Pacific Ocean.
Pamela’s childhood was equally divided between Paris and Los Angeles. She began painting at an early age, greatly influenced by Europe’s classical arts and Los Angeles’s contemporary culture due to the exposure to her family’s visual masterpieces collection. For independent expression, Pamela returned to painting, evolving from figurative work to gestural abstraction. Her paintings have been exhibited in Arena 1, the Other Art Fair and various galleries. She received her BA from Brown University and studied filmmaking at UCLA Film Graduate School.
