Mike Bode
April 1 – 29, 2016
Mike Bode’s artistic practice often takes its starting point in investigations of the built environment seen in relation to societal and historical changes and political and technical shifts. These works which are in many cases developed collaboratively utilize video and photography as well as architectural and spatial interventions, digital media, historical material, and texts. In 2008 Mike Bode received a PhD in artistic research from Gothenburg University, Sweden.
In recent years Bode has been researching the circulation and configuration of online digital imagery and is presently taking part in the research project Screening Protest at the Department of Media Studies at Stockholm University which is exploring the problems of representation, mediation, and aesthetics of political dissent.
Bode is also a long time member of the Japan based artists collective *candy factory projects and has an on-going collaboration with the artist Takuji Kogo with whom he has been developing site specific and multimedia based works.
He has presented and exhibited his work at Kunst Werke in Berlin, The Nobel Museum in Stockholm, The Center of Contemporary Art in Vilnius, The Secession in Vienna, The Gothenburg Konsthall, the Yokohama Triennale and Kitakyushu Biennial and the ICA in Miami.
