Margaret Oakley is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles whose practice includes the making of images, objects, and experiences which reflect on ecological considerations of our time. Driven by a sense of wonder, Oakley’s work emphasizes the process of becoming over a fixed and final form.
Influences on her work include counter-cultural movements, environmentalisms, and a desire to offer experiences of replenishment and care to visitors. Margaret has designed sustainable gardens in Los Angeles since 2009. She earned a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from UCLA and graduated from UC Irvine’s MFA Program in 2022. Margaret teaches in the Art Department at Santa Monica College.
