Lucky Dragons (Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara)
Named for a fishing vessel caught in the fallout from H-Bomb tests in the mid-1950s, in an incident that gave birth to the worldwide anti-nuclear movement, Lucky Dragons is an ongoing collaboration between artists Sarah Rara and Luke Fischbeck. Lucky Dragons brings research into forms of participation, dissent, perception, and attention to performance and public art, purposefully working towards a better understanding of existing social ecologies through workshops, publications, and recordings. Fischbeck and Rara have presented collaborative work in a wide variety of contexts, including: REDCAT, LACMA, UCLA Hammer Museum, and MOCA in Los Angeles; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Walker Art Center Minneapolis; Institute for Contemporary Art, London; The Kitchen, New York; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC; the 54th Venice Biennale; and the 2008 Whitney Biennial, among others.
