Lisa Brown was born and raised between Washington, DC and Compton, CA. Her practice includes photography, as well as other analog mediums. Brown processes her own film, giving her control of editing of the images. “My inspirations are women of color, who are commonly the backbone of many families and communities. They deserve light shined on their stories, and I can empower them through my lens.” During her visiting artist residency at 18th Street, Brown looks to find space and community to continue to bring women to the forefront.
