Born in 1985, in the small city of Yi-lan, Taiwan, Lin Yi Hsuan spent the greater part of his childhood training to be a gymnast. He then chose the career of an artist, where he enrolled in the Taipei National University of the Arts. After completing his studies 2009, he went to Honduras, as a volunteer to work with needy children, and began a personal journey of transformation in Latin America. Lin Yi Hsuan believes that a chapter of his artistic career has come to a close. When one considers the course of his production, it is evident that a dynamic visual vocabulary has been constructed in accordance with the spirit of his nomadic condition. His private iconography includes doors, boats, people in hats, and witches, among many other elements, always related to the keywords he chooses to guide each work. Even with structures and an expressive agenda as a starting point, his work maintains ample space for experimenting with possibilities of the form and exploring complex, untranslatable feelings of the pictorial language.
