Isabelle Le Normand
Exhibition & Residency:
October 1 – October 31, 2013
Isabelle Le Normand is a curator and lover of intense, extreme, humorous life projects linking art to the real world. She is passionate about hospitality, diplomacy, and human connectivity, and makes exhibitions linked to family, admiration, and enthusiasm. After creating the exhibition program at Mains d’Oeuvres, working as its visual arts curator for six years, she is now based between Paris and Los Angeles.
Isabelle has curated independently in Paris, Bourges, Marseille, Budapest, and Los Angeles. Many of her shows are mainstream yet precise: for example, a show with all the artists who live on the same street, creating an exhibition only with artists with last names beginning with B, bringing together three artists who are brothers and never exhibited as a group before, bringing artists from Paris to Los Angeles to live with art enthusiasts and make a performance, a show about admiration where each artist chosen was asked to invite an artist he or she admires, or displaying an emerging collector’s entire collection.
