Heide Pichler

Heide Pichler lives and works in Vienna and Linz, Austria where she has been a working artist since 1988. She studied Textile Art and Photography at the University of Art and Design in Linz where she has been teaching since 1993. Like in a field research, Pichler approaches personal, social and country-specific attributes and focuses on cultural singularities, not excluding human attributes like hair and clothing as well as gender-stereotypes. By abstracting these aspects, she creates objects, graphical structures, and symbols which examine and compare aesthetic terms of different cultures and socializations. Objects, photographs and drawings are all part of a work-in-progress that combine to her site-specific installations. Pichler has shown work in Europe, Russia, New York, and Japan.
