Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev live and work in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Their work includes film and photography installations. In addition to their screening at MoMA in 2009, a solo exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007, the Winkleman Gallery in New York in 2006, 2008, 2012 and the Laura Bulian Gallery in Milan in 2010, they have exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Singapore Biennale, Montreal Biennale, Thessaloniki Biennale, Shanghai Zendai Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, the Mart Museum of Modern art and many other international museums and biennials.

Their work has been reviewed in Artforum, Flash Art, Frieze, Art in America, and by other arts publications. They also organized and curated the highly acclaimed international biennial Bishkek Contemporary Art Exhibition. In 2010 they were recipients of the Prince Claus Award and were short listed for the Artes Mundi Prize.
