Filip Gilissen

Filip Gilissen is a Belgian artist, Easy Jazz connoisseur and co-curator of COSMOPOLITANISSIMO, who lives and works in Brussels. Through events, performances, and installations the work of Filip Gilissen draws a tragic image of the contemporary yuppie. His practice questions the value of authenticity in relation to progress and art’s social role. Gilissen’s work has been presented in venues such as Etablissement D’en Face (2018), Life Sport (2018), Panicz Bar (2017), Il Grande Capasone di Bianchi Montalbano (2016), Fotomuseum Winterthur (2015), Talinn Art Hall (2013), Stedelijk Museum (2013), MARTA Museum (2012); Kunshalle Nurnberg (2012); Liste 17 Performance Projeckt (2012); Witte De With (2011); M HKA, Antwerp (2011), and Liverpool Biennial (2010).

Filip Gilissen (1980) is a Brussels Based artist residing at 18th Art Street Center; The residency is supported by the Vlaamse Overheid in Belgium.
