Carey Hamblett is a screenwriter, director and visual practitioner whose formative years were spent in London and Santa Monica. She studied fine art and theatre design followed by post-graduate studies at the London Film School. Carey has scripted for TV, lectured in cinema studies, directed rock concert videos and short films and output includes character design, storyboarding and multi-media.
Development of her CGI feature Generation City led her to create an extensive digital chronicle of LA and generated LA EDGE, a multi-media installation of photography, a video-wall and soundscape. LA ENVIRONS, mounted at 18th Street Arts Center in 2017, is a trine of projects addressing the urban environment, the geography and the ocean and includes sequences from PCH-1, a cultural documentary informed by the filmmaker’s early experience of living on that iconic highway.
