Anthony Discenza is a conceptual artist who explores the production and distribution systems of mass media and the narratives it generates. Deeply influenced by his love of speculative fiction, Discenza’s practice frequently employs descriptive language, incomplete or fragmentary information, and unreliable narrative to direct viewers towards absent or imagined experiences. Over the past several years, his focus has turned increasingly towards the production systems of cinema, fiction, and the problematic spaces of artistic production.
Discenza’s work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; V-A-C Foundation, Venice, Italy; OCT Contemporary Art Terminal Shanghai, Shanghai; MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland; Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerpen, Belgium; Wattis Institute for the Contemporary Arts, San Francisco; The Getty Center, Los Angeles; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; among others.
