Anne Seidman
Exhibition & Residency:
April 1 – May 31, 2014

Untitled, 22 x 30in, color pencil on stonehenge

Anne Seidman is a recipient of a Pew Fellowship, a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, a Leeway W.O.O. grant and a Pennsylvania Individual Artist Fellowship. She has an advanced degree in Painting/Drawing and one in 3-d Computer Graphics and Animation. She recently retired from 25 years teaching computer classes in the Graphic Design department at the Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia.

Here is a brief description of her process when building works on paper or panel: ”Through abstraction I reveal a world, not unlike my everyday life: rigorous and controlled but with room for spontaneity, irony and consciousness. Without the constraints of subject matter, abstraction has allowed me to explore pure painting. I suggest friction, awkwardness, a sense of self, energy and place within forms and between their edges by allowing an unwilled execution to coexist with restrained judgment.”
