Ana Vega

“My artistic practice is essentially focused on the photographic medium, photography as the tension between fiction and the real. The act of photographing represents a series of decisions and actions, and my work investigates the protocols of the look, of visual perception. I strive to offer images that, despite their realistic qualities, provoke a hesitation as to how to understand them. The subject of the works is, simultaneously, the subject that is photographed and the act of building the setting to be photographed.”

Recent exhibitions include: Im Korridor, group show, J2System Gallery, Berlin; Rite de Passage, solo show, Studio Anne Rochette, Paris; Body Buddy, group show, Studio Anne Rochette, Paris; and a screening of her film Der Fleck in den Au at Filmmakers Cinema, Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Vega holds MFAs from Ecole National Superieur des Beaux Arts in Paris and Carnegie Mellon University, and a BFA from Ecole National Superieur des Beaux Arts.
