Co-founders Kit Galloway and Sherrie Rabinowitz founded Electronic Cafe International in the Orwellian year of 1984. ECI is the mother of all cybercafes, a unique international network of multimedia telecommunications venues with over forty affiliates around the globe, including New York City, Tokyo, Dublin, Copenhagen, Rio de Janeiro, Jerusalem, Paris, Palo Alto, and Toronto. New ECIs are being established in Madrid; Barcelona; Mexico City; Milan; Austin, Texas; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Woodstock, New York; and major cities in Italy and Chile. There are also over 30 Affiliates ECIs around the world and growing including Vancouver, Canada; Grahmstown, South Africa; Managua, Nicaragua; Linz, Austria; Moscow, San Francisco and Havana, Cuba. ECI-SM has the world’s largest archives of telecommunication and telematic art with over 1000 hours of videotape documentation.
