Luciana Abait

Luciana Abait is an Argentine painter and photo-artist who has lived and worked in Miami and now lives in Los Angeles. She draws inspiration from these tropical surroundings. Abait has been exploring and developing further her Mixed Nature Series which intends to create the sensation in viewers of witnessing a new visual nature through the creation of manipulated landscapes and installations. Objects from architectural origins, nature and found ones combine giving life to an imaginary reality. This series reflects upon human beings and their relationship to the urban and natural environment that surrounds them. It also questions man’s relationship to the micro and macro universes and the significance of individuals in connection to the masses. It aims at reflecting on our position in the world, our significance and our condition of being.
Abait will be part of Sur Biennial, Los Angeles, in October 2011. She is presenting a monumental installation that combines wood constructions and photography. Also, her projects A Midmorning Garden Dream and Aquarium have been selected by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs to be exhibited during 2011 and 2012 at LAX.
