18th Street Arts Center presents “Republic of China, without People!”, a painting installation, running July 14 to September 14, 2007. The ArtNight reception event will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007, 6:00 to 8:30 pm, including a free concert and open studios by international and local artists.
Born in Taipei, artist Ming Hsu creates animation, video, multimedia, and design works. After studying in Taiwan, he studied further in Germany, earning a certificate in Visual Media Art from Offenbach am Main Collge of Design. He is currently working on an underground animation called “Republic of China, without People”, sponsored by the National Culture and Arts Foundation, Taiwan. Ming Hsu’s residency is sponsored by the Council on Cultual Affairs, Taiwan, which has supported Taiwanese visiting artists at 18th Street Arts Center annually since 1999.
