18th Street Arts Center presents “Down the Road, to the Right,” new wall drawings by Kim Schoenstadt, April 23-July 8, 2005 at 18th Street Arts Center, 1639 18th Street, Santa Monica. The reception will be Saturday, May 7, 6-8:30pm with a performance by osseus labyrint at 7:30pm. The show opens and runs simultaneously with the group art show, “The Curious and the Profound,” curated by Lisa Adams. Both exhibitions are funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

The wall drawings in this exhibition are combinations of architecture and landscape from Palm Springs, California; Lodz, Poland; and Prague, Czech Republic. This ongoing series of work employs the confluence of the drawn line to explore a hybrid of cultural, architectural, and landscape space.

Kim Schoenstadt received her BFA from Pitzer College and lives in Venice, CA. She has had solo and two person shows at 4-F Gallery, Biola University, and Lemon Sky Projects in Los Angeles and Susan Inglet Gallery in New York. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at the National Gallery Veletrzni Palac (Prague), Lodz Biennale (Poland), Passerby (New York), Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, and many others and in reviews and articles in Art Week, the Guardian (UK), Contemporary Magazine, and LA Weekly.
