This bursary round is designated for Central and South American Artists
Quickly proceed to a section by clicking on one of the links below.
We are proud to renew our affiliation again with the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme. Each year, we focus on one country or region for the bursary. For 2011, we will accept applications only from Central and South American artists.
A UNESCO-Aschberg Bursary to the 18th Street Arts Center provides:
- roundtrip airfare between the artist’s nearest international airport and Los Angeles, California;
- a two-month stay at 18th Street Arts Center, including:
- a fully furnished 1000 square foot studio and apartment with bed room, kitchen, all linens and towels, internet, television, and local phone.
- logistical support for the execution of the artist’s intentions
18th Street provides artists the time and space to produce new work and to interact with the artistic community of Los Angeles. The artist is responsible for their expenses including food and local travel, his or her own working materials and health insurance.
We expect the selected artist to be available to conduct a studio tour, make an artist talk, and perhaps to visit local schools. We are seeking an artist who wishes to build bridges of understanding between our countries through their art, and will be open and willing to discuss current trends, ideas, and cultural issues in Central/South America.
18th Street will award one bursary in 2011. The Bursary will be awarded in the visual arts. We interpret visual arts in the broadest terms possible: painting, sculpture, handicrafts, printmaking, photography, ceramics, film, video, installation, etc.

I think 18th Street Art Center ir really interesting!
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between usability and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a amazing job with this. In addition, the blog loads very quick for me on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!
