Ana Guajardo’s project Tianguis will be collaborating with LACE’s (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) current resident Portable City Projects as a part of PUBLIC INTEREST, a yearlong initiative designed to animate the public realm of Hollywood. This series of installations, artist residencies and interventions will showcase contemporary art, architecture and design practices that challenge standard notions of public space and demonstrate the role creative actions can play in bringing out the vibrancy of a place and it people. “Sabado Mercado and Platicas in Hollywood” is taking place at LACE, located at 6522 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca 90028.

ARTISAN MARKETPLACE 11- 5 pm
The Sabado Mercado at LACE will feature the work of Tianguis vendor-artist including silk-screening hand made silver and gemstone jewelry children’s books fashions and more.
PANEL DISCUSSIONS 1-2 PM AND 3-4 PM
Two Sabado Platicas with Tianguis curator, partcipants, and community organization members will address the role of public markets in sustaining local arts economies and audience participation in cultural and social movements.
