ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Helen Chung is an multidisciplinary artist, working and living in Los Angeles. Her sculptures, paintings, and photographic works experiment with materiality. Chung’s projects draw from her accomplishments as an international shoes and accessory designer and her post-graduate studies in architecture. Chung earned her BFA from Art Center College of Pasadena, BA from Fashion Institute of Technology, and Juried competition award at Korean Cultural Center. Her exhibitions include: Andrew Shire Gallery, Torrance Art Museum, Korean Cultural Center, POST gallery, Liz’s Loft, Blam Los Angeles, West LA College, and Wedge Gallery of Woodbury University.
Jennifer Celio incorporates paper, wood, vinyl, paint, and other materials into sculptural and installation pieces that explore the complicated relationship between humans and the natural world. Catalyzed by the turmoil and changes stemming from the 2016 Presidential election, this work explores American attitudes towards the use and abuse of nature. Juxtaposing abstract and representational imagery, and contrasting material and texture, her paintings and sculptural compositions reference the literal and figurative landscape. Celio is a native of Southern California and received a B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting from California State University, Fullerton in 1996. She was raised in the suburbs of L.A. and now lives and works in Long Beach, CA. Her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at Cristinerose Gallery and Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts in New York City, Haphazard Gallery and the Creative Artists’ Agency in Los Angeles, CA, romo gallery in Atlanta, GA, Bandini Art in Culver City, CA, California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA, Moorpark College in Moorpark, CA, and Phantom Galleries in Long Beach, CA.
