Dear Cixous reading group,
Our tenth meeting! That is something to celebrate!
First, Robert’s terrific article about our group was published today on KCET. If you haven’t seen it, please check it out here:
Thank you to everyone who participated in both the article and the photos, and a special thanks to Robert for eloquently summarizing what we have been up to.
Our next meeting is Sunday, May 19th, and we are reading Cixous’s book Philippines, which is the subject of the “Forêt Intérieure/Interior Forest.”
We’re going to be meeting at 18th Street Art Center gallery, in the Forest, from 4-6pm. We’ll be able to look from the book to the large-scale drawing underway illustrating the text.
1639 18th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404
Reading: Philippines, the first half of the text.
On that Sunday (May 19th) 18th Street Arts Center is hosting it’s annual fundraiser, CRUSH:
If you are interested in attending, please let me know.
The gallery will be open from 1pm on, so if you are interested in attending the benefit and drawing, please come early to purchase a ticket.
Also, there are other wonderful events this week and next — including drawing residencies with Steve Roden, Scoli Acosta and Alison O’Daniel among others — hope you can join in:
