Nadia Reed
Exhibition & Residency:
2010

A long time resident of 18th Street Arts Center, Nadia Reed’s work originates from her Pacific Northwest Coastal Native American heritage. Her richly colored paintings convey a mixture of symbolic, expressionistic imagery depicting dancers, waterfalls, forests, animals, fish, masks and mythical beings.

The most recent work focuses on the rebuilding of modern Native American culture by bringing to the life the spirit of a sacred ancestral history. Reed’s art becomes a metaphor for change and growth while artistically celebrating the rich heritage of a people whose language and myths have been stripped away over time.

Reed are currently showcased at the Red Mermade in Venice Beach from September 25 through October 27. Entitled NADIA REED, New Works, it features paintings that express the beauty of the land of modern Native American Coastal tribes.
