18th Street often creates temporary exhibitions of artwork in its hallways. Pasillos I is located at the 1629 building hallway and Pasillos II is located at the 1653 building. The Pasillos are designated spaces to showcase student works from workshops conducted by our artists-in-residence. It may also include works by college and university students and artists that have not yet had the opportunity to show in major galleries. The artists benefit by being showcased in our spaces, which may help them gain additional confidence and inspiration needed to move forward in the arts.
CLAYTON CAMPBELL
Digital Wagner

Clayton Campbell, The Entry to Valhalla, Digital Inkjet Print, 2010
In celebration of the LA Opera's Spring 2010 production of Richard Wagner's The Ring Cycle, 18th Street will present Digital Wagner, a real time interpretation of the iconic themes and social relevancy in The Ring Cycle. Artist Clayton Campbell's prints and projections feature a cast of contemporary characters who bring a new spin to an old story about the nature of power, love, loss, treachery, and redemption.
About Clayton Campbell
My work as an artist is a conceptual practice that bridges studio work and public organizing of artist projects, actions, and interventions. This multi faceted practice is consistent with a generation of practitioners who challenged existing power structures found in our governmental and cultural institutions which were discriminatory. The process of revisionism, wide use of different materials, an absorption with image/text productions are part of this generation that is now well established for those who are still working.
